*The Wedding Planners*

You'll just wed twice so better plan it and better plan it well. You read it right, twice. We originally planned two weddings for this year, the more simple ROM Solemnization here in Singapore and the more formal, more detailed, more special and more significant (as this is the day we will be husband and wife in the eyes of God) church wedding in Manila.  This wedsite is actually for the latter, which needs more time and effort for the preps (which makes it more fun and exciting of course...)
For both our weddings, Francis and I have been hands-on with the preparations. We chose the suppliers, did the talking with them, the follow-ups, the negotiations etc. for we want everything to go according to our plan.  For our Manila wedding preps, we find  great difficulty with this set-up, given the fact that we're miles away from home. Hence, we have to take every opportunity we have to fly back, so for all the public holidays/long weekends they have here in Sg, we're booked for flights to Manila (that's one of the pocket-draining parts).
Here are some of the stuff we have accomplished so far:

  • Church for the Wedding Ceremony
April of 2007, we went home to Daraga, Albay to visit our families. We also find some time to visit The Our Lady of the Gate Parish in Daraga to inquire for our wedding. We were set to have our wedding in there. We both loved the church. It's atop a hill and it gives you a wonderful view of Mayon Volcano. The person-in-charge asked us to come back in December of 2007 as the listings for 2008 will only be available that time.

November 2007, after some talks with our folks and careful deliberation we concluded that our wedding would be in Manila instead. It would be less hassle for us since flights to singapore are mostly only until Manila (and we don't need to fly to bicol everytime for the preps), most of our chosen suppliers are Manila-based, and since it would be an "out-of-town" wedding as far as our families our concerned, the guests that we would have will be more "controlled" relative to having the wedding in Albay (my mom pointed-out that having the wedding there would mean inviting twice or thrice as much guests, even those that we don't really want to see there). So Manila it is.

December 2007, we went back home to do some partial preparations. We made ocular visits to churches in Manila, particularly Intramuros, as we find the area more "historic" and memorable. (We loved watching shows in Intramuros before, part of thw WoW philippines project of DOT ). We considered both MC and San Agustin. MC is a great church, literally. It's huge! And if you really want to walk down a long and wide aisle this is really the church  for you. We inquired in the church. They're strict and they even require would-be couples to have an interview even before the confirmation of the slot. We held the hand-outs they've given us and went inside the church. Inside it was deafening. I don't know if it was the high ceiling, or the space that surrounds us. Then, I felt dizzy, almost fainting. I asked Francis to take me out of there. Hmmm... bad vibes. Off we went to San Agustin Church.
This church is beautiful. Francis liked it more than MC. The 18th century chandeliers, the splendid trompe l’oeil barrel vault and dome, the altar, the side-chapels everything about it is amazing. On September 28, 2008 at two in the afternoon, we're booked to get married at San Agustin Church, Intramuros Manila. :)

  • Reception
January 2008, we went around Intramuros for venues of our wedding reception... TBC...
